Funeral services for George F. Atkinson, 48 years old, former Sedalian and son of Mrs. Agnes Atkinson, 1009 South Vermont avenue, who passed away in Kansas City, Monday morning, will be held at 10:30 o'clock Wednesday morning at the St. John's Episcopal church in Kansas City and burial services will be in Crown Hill cemetery in Sedalia about 2 o'clock that afternoon.

The Reverand Richard A. Park, rector of Calvary Episcopal church, Sedalia, will officiate at the grave side services.

Pallbearers at Kansas City services will be the following friends: active, Harry Gambrel, John E. Roche, John E. Gornall, Clem O'Nannon, Oliver Davies, and Stanley Surratt; honorary, L. A. Pinkney, George S. Conover, W. T. Ryer, G. R. Tyler, Fred Richardson, Frank Beatty, John O'Sullivan and Thomas McLaughlin.

Pallbearers who will serve in Sedalia are G. A. Cox, Roy Carson, Charles England, Ernie Goldsmith, William Atkinson and John S. Goldsmith.

Mr. Atkinson was born in Sedalia and received his early education here. In 1908 he went to Kansas City and was employed by the Milwaukee railroad. Soon after the United States entered the world war, Mr. Atkinson enlisted in the army and saw service in France for eighteen months.

He was the recipient of the Croix de Guerre. The citation was made by the French government for bravery in action after he had stood guard duty for thirty-seven hours without relief.

At the close of the war he returned to Kansas City and for a time worked for the Milwaukee railroad. before his illness he was employed by the Hirsch Distilling Company. Mr. Atkinson was a Mason and a member of the Brotherhood of St. Andrew, a national Episcopal organization.

His father, the late John Atkinson, former Missouri Pacific engineer, passed away in 1924.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Freda Gammon Atkinson, paymaster for Harzfeld's, of the family home, 414 South Denver avenue, Kansas City; a daughter, Mrs. Olive Ann Holmberg, 2406 East fifty-fifth street; his mother, Mrs. Agnes Atkinson, Sedalia; four sisters, Mrs. Margaret Goldsmith, Mrs. Jane Goldsmith, and Mrs. Glenn Cox, all of Sedalia, and Mrs. J. E. Gornall, 3329 Mersington avenue; and four brothers, John Robert Atkinson, James W. Akinson, all of Sedalia, and Edward H. Atkinson, 3329 Mersington avenue.
