Sedalia Democrat CALVIN I. DeWITTCalvin Isaiah DeWitt, 74 years old, pioneer resident of the Beaman neighborhood, passed away at his home near Beaman about 2 o'clock Sunday morning. He had been suffering from a lingering illness. Mr. DeWitt was born July 25, 1866, on a farm, and had lived in that community practically his entire life. He was the son of the late Benjamin and Permelia DeWitt. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Rebecca DeWitt and the following children: Jess I. DeWitt and Derby DeWitt, both of Beaman; Don DeWitt of Sedalia; Mrs. Helen Miller, LaPorte, Ind.; Mrs. Mamie D. Vawter, Kennett, Mo.; and Miss Bessie DeWitt and Mrs. Gertrude Bruce, both of Kentucky. Two grandchildren also survive, as do three brothers, Ben DeWitt, Rev. Joe A. DeWitt, Larkin P. DeWitt, and one sister, Mrs. Clevia McMullin, all of the Beaman neighborhood. The body was taken to the Gillespie Funeral Home. The funeral services will be conducted at the Lamine Baptist Church by the Rev. J. R. Sumner at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Pallbearers will be friends of the family. Interment in the church cemetery.
