C. J. GARDNER DEAD

C. J. Gardner of Chickasha, Oklahoma, a brother of Herman Gardner, formerly of Cole Camp, passed away at a hospital in Oklahoma City, Okla.; Monday, January 7, following a lingering illness.

The body was brought to Sedalia where funeral services were held at the Gillespie funeral home at 10:30 o'clock Wednesday morning. Rev. H. H. Heidbreder, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Sedalia, officiated. Interment was made in Crown Hill cemetery. Pallbearers were: Fred, Ernest and Louis Koeller, Theodore and Alonzo Gardner and Glen Kell.

Mr. Gardner was born in Kansas City, Mo., on November 1, 1889, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Fred Gardner of Sedalia. He united in marriage with Pernie Roberts, who survives, as does a son Paul, and a daughter Mrs. Fay Lorenzen, also a granddaughter all of Chickasha. He also leaves three brothers, Lawrence and Arthur Gardner of Sedalia and Herman Gardner of Kansas City; and two sisters, Mrs. Kate Bashore of Sedalia, and Mrs. George Gunter of Kansas City. One sister, Mrs. Clara Janes of Fulton, died two years ago.

Mr. Gardner had worked for the Rock Island since 1910, being promoted to roadmaster in 1921 and continued to hold this position until his recent illness.
