Funeral services for Harry L. McCune, aged 72, who passed away at the U.S. Veteran's Facility Hospital at Wadsworth, Kansas, Wednesday, Nov. 17, was held at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the LaMonte Christian church, with Rev. Harry J. Smith officiating, assisted by A. W. Kokendoffer of Sedalia.

Misses Mary Helen and Frances Meyer of Sedalia sang, "The City Four Square," and "Abide With Me," accompanied by Mrs. Paul Brim.

The following friends served as pallbearers: Honorary, Dr. W. E. Walker, C. E. Terry, F. M. Nicholas, John Hammock, Hallam Courtney and C. L Hanley, the latter four of Sedalia. Active: E. C. Stevens of Sedalia, Elon Keller, Ernest Jones, Glenn Reynolds, Guy Mahin, and Oliver Sevier.

Services at the grave were in charge of Spanish-American War Veterans. Burial will be made in the LaMonte Cemetery.

Mr. McCune was justice of the peace in LaMonte township. He had been in the hospital in Wadsworth ten days receiving treatment.

Harry L. McCune was born near Dresden, May 24, 1871, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip P. McCune. He spent his younger years at Dresden and later lived in LaMonte for a period of years then moving to a farm southeast of Sedalia where he followed farming for 17 years before removing to LaMonte. He was married to Luella Duke in April, 1910, a member of a pioneer family of this community, and to this union three children were born, all living.

During the Spanish-American War he served with a company from Sedalia, and was at Chickamaugua Park until demobilization.

He was a member of the Christian Church, and has served on the board of deacons in both the First Christian Church in Sedalia and the LaMonte Christian Church.

Besides his interest and participation in the church which he loved, he found pleasure in the work of the local Boy Scouts, and was also a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Luella D. McCune of the home, a daughter, Miss Ruth, teacher in the Whittier school in Sedalia, a son, William, of Spring Fork, and another son, Sgt. Arthur McCune, of Camp Cooke, Calif. Four grandchildren, Donald, Dale, Carol Ruth, and David, children of Mr. and Mrs. William McCune. A sister, Mrs. J. H. Underwood, Traverse City, Mich., and a brother Roy P. McCune of Oroville, Calif, together with several nieces and nephews, also survive. Sgt. Arthur McCune and wife arrived Sunday morning from California to attend the funeral.
