BEN H. POTTERBenjamin H. Potter, 86, Sedalia, died at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 11, 1978, at his home. He was born May 8, 1891, near Clifton City, son of the late John & Mollie (Sheffer) Potter. He spent much of his life farming in Pettis County. He also was employed as a carman with the Missouri Pacific Railroad from 1943 to 1958. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Lodge No. 142 in Otterville, and a member of the Railway Carmen of America. Mr. Potter was preceded in death by his first wife, Ora Ellis, in 1953 and by his second wife, Mrs. Bessie Steidel Lee in 1967. Surviving is a son, Ernest Greer, Knob Noster; a daughter, Mrs. Bill (Hazel) Richardson, Sedalia; a sister, Mrs. Grace Cox, Smithton; and three grandchildren. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Ewing Funeral Home. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Raymond Knox of the Broadway Baptist Mission officiating. Burial will be in the Providence Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ellis Glenn, Kenneth Glenn, Stanley Gieschen, James Green, William Hammond, and Frank Mahalovich.
