Sedalia Democrat WILLIAM R. POTTERWilliam R. Potter died at the home of his son, Robert Potter, in Sedalia, at 1 o'clock Saturday morning. Mr. Potter was born near Clifton City on May 17, 1853 and was married to Maggie Steelman in 1878. She preceded him in death in 1909. To this union were born seven children. Mr. Potter was a charter member of the Lamine Baptist Church and later moved his membership to the Green Ridge Baptist Church. Surviving are two sons, Robert Potter of Sedalia and Jewel Potter of Los Angeles, one daughter, Mrs. Gertie Tavener, of Otterville, two brothers, Dr. Jim Potter Of Los Angeles, Calif., and the Rev. Tom Potter of St. Louis, nineteen grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren. Four children, Mrs. Olivia Renfro, Mrs. Carrie Jenkins, Mrs. Laura Holmes and Truex Potter preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 o'clock August 18 at the Baptist Church in Green Ridge, with the Rev. Woolery and the Rev. Gentry to officiate.Burial will be in the Green Ridge cemetery. Six grandsons will serve as pallbearers. They are the Rev. Morris Potter, the Rev. Robert Potter, Emmett Potter, Richard Jenkins, Donald McFarland and Harry Wimer.
