Pettis County, Mo., Obituary

Bernard Russell Staples, 76, died Wednesday [April 17, 1968] at the Ellis-Fischel Hospital in Columbia. He was born April 10, 1892, in Nelson, the son of James Edward and Susan Townsend Staples, and he was married Aug. 10, 1911 to Lula Leftwich who died in 1916.

Mr. Staples is survived by one son, C.A. Staples, Houstonia; one brother, Charles A. Staples, Houstonia; one sister, Mrs. Lester Marshall, Jefferson City; and two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Moore Funeral Home in LaMonte. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Blackwater Chapel with the Rev. George Scott officiating. Music will be by Vicki Winston and Nadine Hurd. Burial will be in the Blackwater Chapel Cemetery.
