George W. Styles

George W. Styles, 87, died at 11:30 a.m. Sunday at the home of his stepdaughter, Mrs. Dorothy Mae Bryant, 2412 South Collins. He had been in failing health for the past six months. He was born Nov. 17, 1881 at Newport, Ky., son of the late George W. and Mary Jane Styles. He had been a resident of Sedalia for the past 50 years.

Mr. Styles married Lillie M. Strong, Dec. 14, 1926, at Warsaw and she preceded him in death Oct. 11, 1963. He retired in 1946 from his job as a machinist at the Missouri-Pacific shops where he had worked for 32 years.

Surviving are his stepdaughter, two sons by a former marriage, Stuart Douglas Styles, Phoenix, Ariz., Claude Newbolt Styles, Orlando, Fla., one stepson, Ray Simons, 1510 East Broadway, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death besides his wife were several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Ewing Funeral Home, with the Rev. Marvin T. Nobles, pastor of the New Hope Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
