JASPER SWERNGIN

Jasper Swerngin, 86 years old, died at his home in LaMonte about 12:15 o'clock this morning following an illness of nearly a year. His illness was not considered serious until Saturday when his condition become critical. He was born at Nashville, Tenn., January 22, 1845. In 1875 he was married to Miss Phoebe Ellen Dillon at Warsaw where they resided for many years. With his wife and several children he moved to LaMonte to reside several years ago.

Surviving are his widow, who is seriously ill at the home, four daughters and four sons. William J. Swerngin and Mrs. Effie Thomas of Sedalia; Mrs. Mettie Dillon of Warsaw; James Swerngin of Houstonia, Louis Swerngin of near LaMonte, Mrs Grace Shelley, LaMonte, and Miss Cora Swerngin of the home address. One child died in fancy.

Short funeral services were conducted at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon at the LaMonte Cemetery with the Rev G. O. Thomas, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal Church at LaMonte officiating. The services were held at the cemetery this afternoon because of Mrs. Swerngin's illness.
