Pettis County, Mo., Obituary

Rev. Zeb Thomas, for more than 35 years a Baptist minister, died at the family home, 903 South Vermont Avenue, at 10:00 Sunday morning. He was, until his recent illness, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in this city. Rev. Thomas was born on a farm five miles south of Beaman, November 17, 1866, and was reared in this county.

In 1888, he was married to Julia A. Gibson, and to this union were born twelve children, ten of whom, with the widow, survive. They are: W. D. Thomas, Los Angeles, Calif,; Rollie Thomas, Sedalia; Mrs. C. A. Johnson, Minneapolis, Minn; Dr. Nola Carmack, Fredericktown, Mo.; Merle and Oscar Thomas, Kansas City; D. M. Thomas, Walsh, Colo; Logan Thomas, Pans, Ill, and Fern and Irene Thomas of the home. A sister, Mrs. Rube Brownfield of Green Ridge, also survives. A brother, "Abe" Thomas, died eight years ago.

Rev. Thomas was a graduate of both William Jewell College, Liberty, Mo., and Drury College, Springfield. He was an evangelist for many years, working under the state board, and has established many churches, among then, the Grant Street Baptist Church in Springfield, Mo. He has converted hundreds of people, including many prominent men of the country. He will be missed and his death will leave a gap not easily filled.

Funeral services will be at the First Baptist Church at 2 o'clock Tuesday Afternoon, the Rev. Dwight Willett, pastor to officiate. Interment in Crown Hill Cemetery.
