Pettis County, Mo., Obituary

In Sedalia, on Sunday, May 23d, at 6 p.m., at the residence of his parents, Americus Goodson, of consumption, in the 18th year of his age.

The deceased was well known in this community and a general favorite with all. Bright and intelligent, industrious and perservering, he gave great promise of a glorious and useful manhood. But just as he stood on the verge of maturity, with all the eager anticipation of praiseworthy ambition, the fell destroyer gathered him to the hard realms of the shadowy legions, whose ranks await the reveille of resurrection morn.

The funeral took place from the residence of his parents, yesterday afternoon, the services being conducted by Rev. Mr. Davidson. The following young gentlemen acted as pall bearers: John Shelly, F. W. Fry, Mort Lampton, Jas. Lampton, H. Bixby and Lum Hall.

This family have been sorely affected. Mr. Isaac Goodson lies very low, Mr. Melvin, his oldest son, is still very weak and Milton, the next youngest, has been ill for a long time -- all with the same dread disease.
