Genevieve Lois Carter, 92, of Sedalia, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 1998, at Margene Guest Home. She was born July 6, 1905, in Chicago, a daughter of Raymond and Violet Desbrow Holland.
Mrs Carter was a member of the Community Church of Sedalia and the Genealogy Society. She wrote a history of Pettis County that was published. She was also a homemaker and had lived in Sedalia since 1948.
In 1922, she was married to Edwin Freeman, who died in 1949. On Nov. 6, 1953, she was married to James Raymond Carter, who died Oct. 17, 1972.
Surviving are two sons, Wesley P. Freeman of Waipahu, Hawaii, and Carl D. Freeman of Portland, Ore.; a daughter, Louis Weller of Fort Worth, Texas; a sister, Leona Revboldt of Clarkston, Mich.; three brothers, William Holland of Chicago, Norman Holland and Kenneth Holland, both of Florida; 19 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sons, Richard Freeman, Glenn Preston Freeman, and Edwin A. Freeman.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Heckart-Gillespie Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Robert Kessler officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at Heckart-Gillespie Colonial Chapel.
Pallbearers will be Gary Siwiec, David Siwiec, Ron Freeman, Ray Weller, David Freeman, and John Williams.
