I, Samuel A. Powell of the County of Pettis and State of Missouri do hereby make and publish this my last Will and testament as follows:

First, I desire that my funeral expenses and all my just debts be paid.

Second, I give to my wife Opi Ann Powell possession of my farm (now my residence) with all the necessary farming implements to carry on the same also fifteen head of choice cows, two yoke oxen of her own selection, one horse named Storm, four work mules (to be her selected), two Negro women named Sylven and Betsy, four Negro boys named Audred, Ben, Silas, and Alford as well as all the household & kitchen furniture during her life, the remainder of my personal property to be sold and the money arising from the sale of the same to be equally divided among my heirs.

Third, I give to my son James Thomas Powell one pony.

Fourth, I give to John Kendrick The use of the farm whereupon he now lives, containing one hundred & seventy acres as well as the forty acres he has been using for the support of the same during my wife's lifetime and at her death to descend to the estate and at the division of my real estate, it is my wish that the said Kendrick be permitted to keep the same as so much of his distributure then according to valuation.

Fifth, Its my wish that my son William Oliver Powell live with my wife on my farm during her lifetime and that he and his family receive their support from the same as well as the sum of Two hundred dollars to be paid him annually for his attention and care.

Sixth, After the death of my wife my property both real and personal to be sold or otherwise agreed upon by my heirs and equally divided amongst them to wit: William O Powell, Mary A Kendrick, James T, Dosha V and Charles H Powell.

Seventh, I do hereby appoint my son William O Powell executor of this my last Will and Testament. In testimony whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal this 12th day of Janurary 1859.

Wm T Legg and James Patrick the two subscribing witnesses to the above will of S A Powell dec'd do solemnly swear that they subscribed the above last Will and Testament in the presence of and by the request of the said testator and that they believe at the time of signing the same the Testator was of sound mind and disposing memory. Whereupon the said Will is admitted to probate and ordered to be recorded and the Same is truly recorded in the foregoing. Given under my hand this 8th of February 1859. Sam A Lowe, Clk
